Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award Shortlist Announced

BRICKS 'N' CLICKS AWARD SHORTLIST

Entries to the Bricks ‘n’ Clicks category of the 2022 Good Retail Awards have showcased many impressive examples of innovation to benefit retailers, customers and the industry as a whole.

We would like to take the time to say thank you to all who entered. The number of inspirational stories shared by so many in the industry made it a privilege (and a real challenge!) to narrow them down to the final shortlist.

The Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award recognises retailers who have utilised both online and offline channels to create a seamless customer experience.

Modern Retail is delighted to announce the official Good Retail Awards’ Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award shortlist.

The Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award shortlist is as follows:

The Baby Barn Pram & Nursery Centre

The Baby Barn Pram & Nursery Centre is a family-run retail business that has used its website and social media to demonstrate a genuine care and passion for their customers’ experiences instore. Having been running from the same barn for the last 28 years, their continuous work online and offline means they are able to support new parents through the challenges of parenthood.

Throughout lockdowns, The Baby Barn Pram & Nursery Centre continued to provide ongoing support to new parents by offering consultations by appointment, whether that was instore or via Zoom. They completely re-designed their website to incorporate an ecommerce element, alongside offering a newsletter sign up to provide more in-depth information, support and offers to new and existing customers. They also focused on SEO optimisation to reach new audiences. The business has also organically grown a highly engaged following on social media through posting captivating content on Instagram and Facebook, utilising a wide range of content such as Q&As and live videos to boost interaction.

The Baby Barn Pram & Nursery Centre has adapted its offering to ensure customers’ needs are met, whether this is online or instore. Their work has resulted in record-breaking sales while continuing to grow an engaged audience of customers.

Healthy Pet Store

Healthy Pet Store provides excellent customer service by creating fun social media and instore initiatives to inform, advise and educate customers. Their impressive omnichannel presence has enabled Health Pet Store to take their vision of becoming the UK’s largest single retailer of frozen fresh foods for meat-eating pets and turn it into a £1m reality.

To provide a seamless customer experience across all channels, the team at Healthy Pet Store found innovative ways to engage with customers and suppliers alike. Running monthly advice clinics on social media, the #AskAnnika hashtag allows followers to ask questions to a canine nutrition certified member of staff, giving customers access to expert advice, as well as being able to get quick responses to any other questions they have. Healthy Pet Store’s creativity was demonstrated with their red carpet fashion ‘catwalk’ for dogs, to showcase its new arrival of the autumn/winter Pomppa doggy jackets. This fantastic campaign gained local and national attention, impressing passersby as well as appearing in national and local press.

Healthy Pet Store has achieved continuous growth, setting the bar high for omnichannel retail to engage with new customers. As well as achieving their goal of becoming a £1m business, they are growing at a rapid rate, delivering to customers around the country, as well as keeping their store open until 8pm to keep up with demand.

Seedlings Cards & Gifts Limited

Seedlings Cards & Gifts Limited began over 12 years ago making handmade cards, growing to now sell their ranges of cards and gifts across many channels. Their goal has been to establish their brand, make it easy for customers to find their products and become engaged with their message of planting seeds to benefit wildlife.

Their approach has seen the retailer utilise their website to inform and educate customers, combining this with Instagram to drive traffic and engage their target audience. After establishing themselves online and growing through the Notonthehighstreet marketplace, they began opening their books to stockists and working with businesses that align with their values. In 2020, Seedlings Cards & Gifts Limited opened their own brick-and-mortar store, focusing on an experiential design and layout. This has worked to involve their local community and showcase their products as customers can watch them being made by their small team behind the scenes and experience the inspirational brand first-hand. Tying this directly into their social media presence, Seedlings Cards & Gifts Limited’s creativity has had bloggers and influencers taking pictures alongside their window displays and products, tying in the cross-promotion of both instore and online.

Seedlings Cards & Gifts Limited’s work has made it easy for customers to purchase cards and gifts on their website and instore, through marketplaces such as Notonthehighstreet, on wholesale accounts for small independent stockists and even in larger chains such as John Lewis and Fortnum & mason. This truly omnichannel approach is enabling them to share their key values with a wider audience and reach customers in the ways that they like to shop.

Congratulations to all in the Bricks ‘n’ Clicks Award shortlist
